I am currently finding it extraordinary how this is a new idea to Americans. Ever since the war started and the price of everything exploded, in Europe it’s been common knowledge that it’s the oil embargo that has caused it. In Britain we have been talking about a “cost of living crisis” driven by oil prices for two years. Of course here, they’re trying as hard as they can to avoid mentioning Brexit, and we were passengers for the start of the war (although starmer is doing everything he can to catch up). But the fact that it’s all basically driven by oil prices is common knowledge.
The absence of this idea in America just shows the pervasiveness of propaganda.
That was a very helpful walk through economic realities. I learned a lot from it. Thank you!
