The Haitians are all in Springfield legally. If the bourgeois powers that be in government really wanted to stop illegal immigration, they'd pass a law making it a felony with mandatory jail time to hire foreign workers .without them having a work visa in their passports.

Obviously, the bourgeois we elect don't want to jail members of the employing class and pass legislation making it easier for workers who want jobs in the U.S.A. to get the necessary documents to do so. There are nefarious political reasons for this, including that old 'divide and rule' the working class with racist bull and keeping the illegal workers scared enough to accept lower wages. Lower wages mean higher rates of profit for the employing class.

This is what happens when criminals are allowed to walk around freely. Trump should have been rotting in a prison cell decades ago.

Whether the people of Springfield, or rather some of them, really believe the "cats and dogs" stories, and circulate them, it's still on Trump who gives space to such stupid ideas that lead to violence and cruelty.

It seems you missed the point. Springfield residents didn't merely circulate the fake stories. They invented them. In at least 8 instances before it went viral. There would have been nothing for Trump to amplify if not for these viciously racist stories to begin with.

A better intro to this article would have Emphasized the real dangers to the Springfield Haitians and to Other Immigrants and POC in the usa.

This intro had a tinge of exonerating trump-vance—MAGAites just because they didn’t start … the LIE and took a few weeks to use their national, international megaphones to agitate vicious harm to millions of people

Thanks for your comment and for reading, Sandra.

I would kindly suggest reading it again. The article in no way exonerates Trump. I explain how Trump's promotion of the Neo-Nazi Great Replacement has legitimized racism. I also detail the violence and threats against Haitians coming from townsfolk -- which almost no newspaper has done.

That's not in the lede because that's not the news. The news, the new reporting, is that the hoax came from the townspeople, and not social media.
